Steps from the Beach: What You Need

It’s beach season ladies and gentlemen, and luckily for you, Gulf Winds Resort is steps away from prime St. Pete Beach access. There’s always a beach etiquette to follow, most of which is basic common sense. Knowing what to bring and what you leave, however, is not as easily deciphered. Every beach has its own set of rules to follow, and Upham Beach is no different. You will have exclusive access to Upham Beach as the white sand is quite literally across the street. Your Gulf Winds vacation is approaching fast, so now it’s time to decide what to pack and what to leave at home or the rental.

It’s Beach Day! Things to Bring

You might think it’s not worth mentioning, but you’d be surprised how many of our guests forget to pack a swimsuit. So, here’s a quick reminder: pack your swimsuit, unless you’re planning on buying a pretty new one in St. Pete Beach. Bring the essentials to Gulf Winds: sunscreen, sunglasses, towels, sunhat, and sandals or water shoes. One item people often overlook is binoculars. You’ll thank us later! Our shores are teeming with skimmer birds that soar down into the vast Gulf of Mexico to snatch a sea specimen. Also, dolphins swim within 50 yards of the beach.

Water is always a worthy item to bring, but there is Paradise Grille, a handful of other restaurants, and restrooms that have tap water. Chairs and umbrellas are available for purchase; otherwise, you can bring your own. One last item to consider is a volleyball—Upham Beach has four terrific sand volleyball nets. It’s also important to bring a buddy. There are no lifeguards, so please don’t go into the water if you’re traveling alone. One last thing to remember: stay for the Florida sunset. Our beach faces west into the Gulf of Mexico, and there’s nothing better than a beach sunset!

What to Keep at Home

Some of these items may be common sense, and others may not. There are two often-asked questions: can I bring my dog and can I bring alcohol? The answer to both is no. St. Pete Beach does have a dog park, and there are three beaches in the area that are pet-friendly. Also, don’t fret because beer is available at Paradise Grille. Paradise Grill is located on the beachfront and is always slinging cheap, satisfactory food and the cheapest canned beer in Florida. You don’t have to leave your electronic devices at home or in your rental condo, but waterproof cases are always a good idea. It’s also best to leave fireworks to the professionals. Take into account that campfires, grills, and loud music are prohibited. Lastly, try your best to leave valuables in your Gulf Winds condo rental.

Gulf Winds Resort offers free parking, which will save you a small fortune. The whole gang will fall in love with our heated outdoor swimming pool. The pool has tall palm trees, large sunbathing stations, and breathtaking Gulf of Mexico views. All our rentals have full kitchens, while some units have patios, balconies, or rooftop decks. No one in St. Pete Beach can match our prices and beach access!
